Xiaomi is known to be one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones in the world. And it’s also famous for producing different types of devices. From headsets to helmets for cyclists. This week, the company announced that it will further increase its range of products. And it will soon launch its first car.
The company has partnered with auto maker Bestune, a division of Chinese automaker FAW. And it will launch its own version of the T77 SUV. According to the information coming from AndroidPit, the car will hit the market with the Redmi sub. Meaning the vehicle will probably have a great focus on cost-effectiveness.
The SUV will have Xiaomi products
The details on the product are still scarce. However, the vehicle should arrive with special enhancements for use with Xiaomi products. This would include support for the MIUI interface. And also the presence of Xiao AI artificial intelligence.
Regarding the price, the Bestune T77 is sold in China in six versions. It’s priced from $ 13,000, about $ 50,000 in direct conversion. The smartphone manufacturer will only make modifications in the car. So possibly the value should not be changed. The launch of the vehicle outside the Asian country is unlikely.
According to Gizmochina, the Bestune T77 was first presented as a concept at the Beijing Auto Show in April last year. The vehicle, which is not electric, features 143 horsepower and maximum torque of 204 Nm. The car caught the attention of the media by bringing a holographic digital assistant with anime character traits.
In addition to helping Xiaomi put its flag on yet another industry sector, the unusual partnership with the carmaker helps the Chinese company draw more attention to the Redmi subsidiary. That was declared “independent” earlier this year after make great success as a line of smartphones.
