The Roscosmos Federal Space Agency of Russia, and Space Adventures have partnered to bring two tourists to the International Space Station in 2021. The agency’s goal is to explore the space tourism. They will take advantage of the Soyuz spacecraft to carry short distances. Moreover, it will raise funds for subsidize its main missions. Also, if necessary, it will get some publicity.
The space tourism is an opportunity that the agencies have to raise extra income. They will take advantage of routine travel and the equipment they already have on hand. Every ticket to space is usually good money. Virgin Galactic had been charging $ 250,000 per person. Amazon intends to charge between $ 200,000 and $ 300,000 per passenger.
The partnership between Roscosmos and Space Adventures is not new. Furthermore, the companies have been working together since 2001, always in the segment of space tourism. They have already sent seven people in this period.
Eric Anderson is the CEO of Space Adventures. He said that he intends to continue this partnership with Roscosmos. This will enable more non-astronauts to visit space more and more often.
