The battle for leadership in the collapsible smartphone market is just beginning. And today’s manufacturers still do not seem to have exploited all the possibilities of this format. An example of this is the new AMOLED panel presented by Sharp. It can be folded like a flip phone.
The model was demonstrated in a smartphone prototype with a screen of 6.18 inches, a ratio of 19: 9 and a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels. The company says it has doubled the component more than 100,000 times during the tests. Although the fact that it is produced with a plastic substrate indicates that we will probably see usage marks after some time.
For now, Sharp has not submitted plans to market the new display. All we know is that it can be used on smartphones or on any device with up to 30 inches. It means that a foldable tablet would also be possible.
