When we log in to a particular website, Safari is responsible for completing the login using the passwords of the iCloud keychain. However, when we download an application many times we have to find out what the password was. Then we indicate you how to take advantage of the Safari keychain in these cases.
When we use applications such as Dropbox, Spotify among others Safari can not autocomplete passwords. Many users are used to it since in iOS the keychain almost always completes the login of an application.
In addition, macOS has accustomed us to use the suggested passwords. They independently are super safe. Also, they are very unlikely to remember for a normal user. However, Mac can not recognize a password field in an application but only in the browser. It therefore forces us to remember the passwords. That’s a very unproductive task on a Mac.

How to use the macOS keychain
To use Safari passwords correctly, simply open the browser. Click on “Safari” and then on preferences. There we will find the “Keyrings” tab. When accessing this tab Safari will ask us to enter the password to the Mac as form of additional protection.
Similarly, if we close the Safari window or lock or shut down the Mac, Safari will request the access key once more to be able to enter “Keyrings”. As this option will display the list of stored passwords of the sites where the user has registered.
The list is sorted alphabetically by each registered website. The user name of the site remains visible while the passwords are kept hidden. To unlock the access codes you must right click on the password. Then, three options will be displayed: Copy website, copy username, copy password and share with Airdrop.
Using this method we can copy the passwords and paste them into the Mac application we need. However, it is not the fastest in a moment of need. So from iOSMac we recommend using password managers. Applications like 1Password are a great option at the moment to manage our keys.
