MuseNet is a new experimental tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate songs with several different instruments. You can also create compositions from samples of classical artist works, contemporary singers, musical genres and film themes. It even allows the creation of songs “from scratch”. Having only a style as a basis.
To re-create new songs, MuseNet developers have used a trained neural network with a set of online musical data of various styles. And so the resource is able to even predict musical notes in a sequence. Those responsible for the project also point out that the system can understand contexts of melodies. So that the result sounds as natural as possible.
Easy to use
Using the platform is not difficult. Just select the style that your music should follow in the arrow in the “Compose in the style of …” section. Then go to “starting with …” to choose how it should be started. Ideally these settings are made from similar musical styles / artists.
In the “show advanced settings” menu, it displays more options for incrementing the composition. And, on the available equalizer, the song starts to be generated. The sequence can be done by clicking the right-facing arrow. In the “Completion” button, you can select one of four rhythms that will form the song. When you complete it, you can download the final result or share it on Twitter.
MuseNet is still a prototype. So it may be slow during the process or create some weird songs. Some platform restrictions may also be the reason why not everything is satisfactory in using it.
This feature may not be very successful. But OpenAI, the company responsible for the project, recently made news with another product. Its researchers have recently created an AI that has defeated a team of Dota 2 world champions.
Anyone who wants to try MuseNet should hurry. Because the music software will be available to the public only until May 12. Then, OpenAI will do a series of evaluations and changes to the platform. That can only be partially accessed.
