According to 9to5Google information, Google Maps is incorporating yet another feature of Waze. It’s the congestion reporting. Google has developed both the applications though. But the second is strictly focused on collaborative direction. Waze traditionally allows users to report a number of things through the streets of the city. This alerts other drivers in real time.
Google Maps already showed areas of congestion using data from city hall traffic meters. But these devices are not always present on streets and secondary avenues. With the new loan from Waze, Maps will now allow users to report sites with bottlenecks. And this information will be shared with other drivers who decide to take the same route.

It is interesting to note that Maps was already allowing users to report radars, accidents and other information. But these collaborative functions are not yet available to everyone. Only a few users can already use the new tools. It’s an evidence that Google is still testing these features.
Anyway, 9to5Google did not clarify whether the congestion reporting will only be available to testers using Maps on Android. Or whether it will also be available in the iOS version. We also do not know how many people already participate in these tests on Google Maps.
