Google recently announced some changes in the system that synchronizes the applications Google Photos and Google Drive. The company intends, as of July, to terminate the connection between services and their respective applications. It is worth remembering that the unison functioning of the platforms was the cause of many complaints from the users. As they found everything very confusing.
Starting in July, with the end of synchronization between services, Google Photos will be an option to backup videos, photos and storage in the cloud, and Google Drive will continue to serve the same purpose, i.e., store all data and file that the user wants.

Google justified the decision to “divorce” the two apps based on the amount of requests it had received from customers. The company points out that this feedback was the deciding factor for the final determination. In a post posted on the company’s official blog, product managers pointed out that the change will help prevent accidental actions that could hinder use of the two services, such as deleting an “unintentionally” file.
What the user needs to know
Still, it will be possible to keep the same file in the services. To do this, users will need to use the backup and sync application on both Windows and Mac. Another important factor is that if the customer deletes certain Google Photos content , it will not be deleted from Google Drive, and vice versa. In summary, this implies more practicality and independence of operation for both platforms.
Regarding videos and photos that are already there, there will be no change, that is, they will continue where they are. The same is true for files shared between apps. This means that if the user wants to free up space in Google Drive, for example, he will have to delete himself. The idea of Google is that the announced changes apply only to content that is sent to the sites in the future.
