A 17-year security researcher named Bill Demirkapi has found a serious flaw in Dell computers (desktops and notebooks). It allows an attacker to execute commands remotely. And, for the PC to be infected, it is enough for the user to access a certain malicious website, says the expert.
And all this happens in a silent way. Without any action of the user. Just visit the page in question for the code to contaminate the PC. Because downloaded files run with administrator privilege within Windows. We can call this a true “gateway” of security.
Solution to Dell vulnerability already available
According to ZDNet, Dell was warned of the vulnerability CVE-2019-3719 on October 26. And it has released an update for SupportAssist (version 220.127.116.11) to address this issue. The download can be made directly on the company’s website.
