Apps on iOS are updated frequently with new features, various enhancements, security settings and other components. If we do not keep up with updates to iOS apps, you’ll quickly have dozens of app updates available waiting to be installed from the App Store.
Fortunately, there is a simple way to handle all application updates. We can easily update all the applications at once in the App Store.
We will need a stable and fast Internet connection for this trick to work reasonably. Otherwise, we may have to wait a long time for all applications to be updated on slower Internet connections.
How to update all the applications at once in iOS
The ability to update all applications at once is available in all versions of iOS. And it is the same on iPhone and iPad. This is how it works:
- We open the ” App Store ” on the iPhone or iPad.
- We click on the ” Updates ” tab .
- Once inside the Updates section, we wait for all the updates to load. Then we click on ” Update all ” in the upper right corner of the screen.
We wait for all applications to be downloaded and updated. This may take a while to complete.
In the App Store, applications that are updated will have a small rotating circle indicator next to them. When we return to the home screen (Homescreen), we will see that the icons of the update applications are blurred. And the names of the applications will be temporarily changed to “Updating” or “Installing” depending on how they are.
Once the application has completed the update, the name of the application and its icon will return to their normal state .
The process of updating all applications can be fast or slow. This depends on the applications you are updating and their size. As well as the speed of our Internet connection. We can always selectively pause some updates. Or even stop the application downloads by touching the icons waiting for the applications that we want to stop.
When all the updates are finished, all of our iOS applications will have been updated. The numerical update indicator in the App Store will no longer be visible.
What if we do not want to update all at once?
If we have forgotten to update the applications in iOS and do not want to manually update all our applications as described above, we can also choose to enable the Automatic Updates that will try to automate the process.
Updating iOS applications is important for many reasons. Such as improved security, new features, better compatibility, bug fixes and much more. Therefore, it is good to be aware of this and not let the updates accumulate on your iPhone.
