If you are bilingual or have mastered more than two languages, this interests you. The iOS operating system is ready to recognize virtually all the languages of the world. Even Siri, Apple’s intelligent assistant, recognizes the vast majority of official languages. But … and what happens if we use two or more languages when writing? And if we want to alternate fast among them? For this, the giant of Cupertino has created a function that allows us to change the language of the keyboard on iPhone and iPad .

Change the keyboard language on iPhone and iPad
If you have ever set up an iPhone or iPad from scratch, you have probably noticed that a long list of languages appears in one of the first windows. This is designed precisely so that the user selects the language he wants and all the associated services are configured accordingly.
But in addition to this, Apple also allows us to add more than one language to the native iOS keyboard. This allows us to quickly switch between languages on the keyboard of our iPhone and iPad.
Add the second keyboard
The first thing we have to do is add the second keyboard in the language we want to configure. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings
- Select General
- Access Keyboards
- Press “Add new keyboard”
A fairly long list of languages will appear. Select the one you want or the ones you want. In principle there is no maximum limit of secondary languages for the iOS keyboard.

Steps to change the keyboard language
Second, let’s see the steps to change the keyboard language on iPhone and iPad quickly:
- Open an application that allows you to type with the iOS keyboard.
- In the lower left, press the icon of the world ball or emoticon for a couple of seconds.
- In the pop-up menu, select the language to which you want to change the keyboard.
Ready! As you can see in the screenshot above, I can now toggle between all the languages I want without having to access the iOS Settings menu. Or activate the keyboard in one hand .
It is a very practical way if for example you write in French and English, or in any other language. Don’t you think?
The advantages of this are that we can use the automatic correction, the corrector recommendations or the auto-fill in the language that is selected on the keyboard. Of course, by default, the language will be that of the terminal unless we adjust it.
To delete a language , you can go to Settings> General> Keyboards and delete the language you are not going to use.
