Do you know when an application asks for your mobile number to verify the identity and release access to an account? Usually it does that by sending a code via SMS. The application reads the code automatically. For now, an update to a Facebook development kit will allow WhatsApp to receive these codes.

This will allow application developers for Android and iOS to include the message via WhatsApp. And you can use it as one of the forms of verification of identity. This option adds to others. Such as receiving the code via call. Or notification in the Facebook application itself.
Facebook made this change in the Account Kit. It’s a Facebook development kit made available to developers. However, its implementation still depends on the willingness of app developers. They may or may not choose to include the novelty. There is an advantage of using WhatsApp for sending codes. It is that the messenger has the option of 2-step verification. This increases the security of the process.
