In iOSMac we will show you how to view PSD files in macOS for free. Sometimes we do not want, nor do we need to have installed in our heavy computers programs of which we do not usually use more than 10% of their enormous possibilities of work.
That is the case of Photoshop, huge and incredible Adobe program that, unless you dedicate yourself to photography or design, it probably is not profitable to have installed on your hard drive. But, what happens when we get a file in PSD format?
Even if you do not have Photoshop we’ll show you how to view PSD files on your Mac
The PSD format is native to Photoshop. It allows you to save the files with 48 bits of color and store all the layers, channels, masks … that the image includes. Being an extension of Photoshop, in theory, if you do not have this program, you will not be able to open the file that you have left.
But you can, if you have a Mac. And we will show you how to view PSD files in macOS in a simple and free way. Even without resorting to any software that is not already on your computer.
Using Preview to view PSD files
If there is a program that comes installed on our computers and serves, we could say practically for anything, that is Preview . And if we have it configured as our default image viewer, which is normal, just double click on the PSD file to open the image on our Mac.
And if Preview is not predetermined, it will be enough to search the application on the computer. Once open, select File > Open in the top menu bar to search for the PSD file.
Google Drive as a virtual option
But if for any reason you do not want to use Vista Previa, you have the option, also free, to use Google Drive. Virtually everyone has a Google account. So if this is your case, go to Google Drive . Sign in and click on New. Select Upload file and look for the PSD file that you want to view. Once the load is finished, with double click on the file, we can see the image.
PSD Master as an app to download
And the last option that we present to you comes from the Mac App Store. There are many applications, free and paid, to open PSD files. Even more powerful applications such as Pixelmator or GIMP that can be useful for other actions. But if you just want to open PSD files, we recommend PSD Master.
PSD Master is a simple and simple application that does what it promises . It allows you to open PSD files and also by clicking on the icon on the top right you will see a sidebar with an interesting list of the details of the file.
